Intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) is a non-invasive and non-ablative treatment that uses high intensity pulses of light to improve damaged looking skin.
The procedure of skin rejuvenation to the face and neck is referred to as a "Photofacial" and requires a series of IPL treatments.
IPL can improve the following:
How Does IPL Work?
IPL systems work similar to lasers in that light energy is absorbed into specific targeted cells with color in the skin. Light energy is converted to heat and causes damage to the targeted area. Unlike lasers, the IPL devise sends out multiple wavelengths in each pulse of light versus only one wavelength. The majority of IPL devises use filters to refine the energy output, which enhances the penetration without using excessive levels of energy.
IPL therapy targets the lower layers of the skin, (Dermis) without affecting the top layers of the skin (Epidermis). Since IPL is considered a non-ablative procedure the downtime is minimal to none due to only targeting the lower levels of the skin versus the top and bottom layers, which would result in a much more noticeable and dramatic outcome. Most clients can resume their normal duties immediately after their IPL treatment.
Results:
The effectiveness of IPL treatments depend of the skin condition being treated and the severity of the skin. All IPL treatments require a series of session to have the most effective outcome.
Most areas and conditions treated require 3-6 treatments every 3-6 weeks to receive the desired results .Maintenance treatments are highly recommended after your treatment plan is completed for long term results.
Risks:
Some mild discomfort can occur with this procedure but is usually short lived.
